Wrexham County Borough Museum and Archives
Wrexham County Borough Museum & Archives was originally the barracks for the Royal Denbighshire Militia; later the building became the town’s police station and court house. The museum has recently been completely refreshed and redesigned to meet the expectations of the twenty-first century visitor.
The museum has three galleries: the main gallery is a family friendly space which introduces visitors to the history of Wrexham and displays some of the star items in the museum’s collection. Gallery 2 is a dedicated space for exhibitions based on the treasures of the National Museum of Wales and the National Library of Wales. Gallery 3 is where you can enjoy our programme of temporary exhibitions which explore our border heritage. The Collections Centre offers visitors a chance to see those objects not on display (separate opening times). The Archives is the place where you can research your family tree or delve into the history of your neighbourhood.
Overall we offer a great visitor experience for everyone who wants to discover Wrexham’s varied heritage and the collections held in the museum and the archives. To complete the perfect visit, have a browse in the museum shop and then sit back and indulge yopurself at the stylish award winning Bwtri Coffee bar and bistro!
