The Association is a non-profit making charity which was established in 1973 to preserve and protect the battlefield at a time when the Belgian Authorities were planning to put a motorway through the site. The secondary aim of the Association is to promote a greater understanding of the Battle of Waterloo and Britain’s role in the Napoleonic era. It is my wish, and that of the Committee of the Association, that this website should encourage students and scholars of the Napoleonic and French Revolutionary wars and others who are simply interested in this remarkable period in British history.

We offer a wide range of fascinating talks and visits, and a journal which is published three times a year and always contains stimulating articles and other items of interest to all. Also we are actively involved, with other relevant parties, in planning the commemorations for the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo in 2015.
