Museum of the Royal Dragoon Guards and the Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire
The Royal Dragoon Guards can trace its ancestry back to 1685, as it was formed by the amalgamation of four of the senior cavalry regiments in the British Army. It recruits mainly in Yorkshire Cheshire and Northern Ireland and its Battle Honours emblazoned on its Standards embody the history of the British Army over 300 years. The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire was also raised, as two Battalions of Infantry in 1685 and were amalgamated in 1958 to their present title.
The Museum is well laid out in spacious surroundings and tells the story of the present day and former regiments from the late 17th century. Displays include uniforms, prints, paintings, weapons Regimental Colours and Standards, all housed in well lit, clearly labelled show cases. There is a small gift shop which sells books, ties and a good selection of regimental regalia and memorabilia. There are facilities for disabled access.

Entry Charges
Adults: £4.00 each. Children (ages 5-15 yrs): £2.00 each. One child enters free with every fee-paying adult; e.g. a party of two adults, with three children, will pay £4.00 for each adult and child, plus £2.00 for one further child. No child will be admitted to the Museum without an accompanying adult. Students: £2.00 each, on provision of valid student ID card, N. U. S. card or similar. Concessions (aged 60 or over): £2.00 each. Prices for Adults, Children, Students and concessions are all reduced by 50% when purchased with a Hidden Secrets Card. Serving British Service personnel enter free of charge. Guided tours are available, by appointment only, for groups of up to 30. These are charged at up to £70.00.
