Anson Engine Museum
As seen on TV, this multi-award winning museum has a great deal to offer visitors.
On the site of the old Anson Colliery in Poynton, it is the result of Les Cawley and Geoff Challinor’s years of hard work collecting and restoring engines. Opened to the public in 1989, the museum is open one weekend a month from Easter Sunday until end October (other times and days by arrangement for group visits).
Engines run every day the museum is open, please check if travelling long distances.
As well as the largest collection of gas and oil engines in Europe, the museum has an varying display of local history items such as photographs, maps, mementoes and keepsakes from the Vernon Estate and Anson Colliery.
