The sad tale of Quatre Bras Farm

This is the sad spectacle of the farm at the crossroads at Quatre Bras which is being demolished. This spot is iconic of the period of the battle on 16th June 1815 when Marshal Ney attempted to bounce the Allies on and near this spot. This destruction has been threatened for many years and I recall the last Duke of Wellington writing to the authorities t
o save the building and battle landmark.
Maybe this delayed matters but in the end the bulldozers have won and how sad this is. Crossroads are near to the spot where the 28th Foot were in square and were attacked by lancers and which was so evocatively painted by Lady Butler.
