Thomas StoneyNews of Waterloo appeared in the Sunday Telegraph yesterday. The Thomas Stoney watercolours which were recently displayed (on loan from a private collection) in the Bonaparte and The British exhibition in the British Museum have been acquired by the  Museum.

These watercolours of which there are 17 were painted only a few days after the battle. The drawings and water colours show not only the famous sites but also rare views of Quatre Bras and also some fine panoramas of the battlefield but some macabrely show the stripped bodies of the dead at Quatre Bras.  I show the watercolour of Hougoumont for those who have watched the restoration of the farm.  Hougoumont Stoney
